Saying Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk had a good February is a bit of an understatement: He had an awesome February. So great that the NHL named Dubnyk the First Star for the month of February, which is his first full month with Wild. He’s the first Wild player to earn the honor, according to ESPN 1500.
The Wild report Dubnyk helped turn the team around and climb up the bottom of the Western Conference standings to a playoff spot.
The numbers speak for themselves: 11 wins, 1.64 goals-against average, .939 save percentage, three shutouts and one assist for the month. Only 23 goals-against went past Dubnyk.
NHL.com reports since coming to the Wild, Dubnyk has had a 15-3-1 record and five shutouts in that span.
The NHL named Josh Harding Third Star of the month in 2013. The other stars for February include Montreal goalie Carey Price with the Second Star and Third Star went to Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin.
The rookie of the month is Edina’s Anders Lee, who is a center with the New York Islanders. In February, he netted seven goals and 15 points in 15 games.
