It looked the Wild was down and out as they trailed 4-2 with under two minutes left in regulation. That’s when “down and out” became “it ain’t over ’til it’s over.”
Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi scored in the game’s final 1:43 of regulation to send the game to overtime, and eventually a shootout. Setoguchi’s goal came with just ten seconds left on the clock.
The shootout, however, didn’t go as well for the Wild. Montreal scored just once on Josh Harding, but Minnesota couldn’t muster a single goal. The game ended in less than dramatic fashion as Devin Setoguchi lost control of the puck and fell down before getting off a shot attempt.
Matt Kassian scored the Wild’s first two goals of the game.
Niklas Backstrom left the game in the first period with an apparent left leg injury. He was replaced by Harding, who stopped 17 of 20 shots.
