The Wild dominated period one of their contest with Carolina tonight, netting two goals, and that’s all they would need from Xcel Energy Center, in a 3-1 victory tonight.
Both starting goalies didn’t make it through the game, as Cam Ward lasted just four minutes and seven seconds for Carolina, he would be replaced by Justin Peters, who would allow the two first period goals.
Word has already come down that Ward will miss 3-4 weeks with a lower body injury.
Bad news for the Wild as well, with Josh Harding, who came into the game second in the NHL in goals against average, leaving after two periods, also a lower body injury.

Russo reports it’s a left leg, no word has come down on how long Harding will miss, or how bad the injury is.
The two first period goals came from Nino Niederreiter and Zach Parise, while Dany Heatley added an empty-net goal to ice the 3-1 win.
Minnesota is back to the ice in Chicago Saturday against the Blackhawks, who they lost to in the first round of the playoffs last year.
