The Minnesota Wild are waiting to see who they will face off with in the first round of the playoffs, but they do know winger Thomas Vanek will miss at least the first game of their playoff series.
Torchetti: Parise (maintenance) out tomorrow. Vanek out for at least a week. #mnwild

Minnesota held an optional practice yesterday but he left after the first drill.
Perhaps skating on the injury didn't go well for Thomas Vanek. He participated in the first drill, but left practice after that. #MNWild

Vanek took a nasty cross-check from Chicago Blackhawks’ Viktor Svedberg on March 29th and has played in just one game since. The former golden Gopher has just two points in his last 13 games, but his 18 goals are still fourth best on the team.
Some have speculated if Minnesota should buy out Thomas Vanek at the end of the season. Vanek is due $6.5 million next season in the final year of a three-year deal he signed in the summer of 2014.
Since joining the Wild, only Zach Parise averages more points per 60 minutes than Vanek.
