Fresh off their preseason closing victory over Buffalo Thursday night, the Minnesota Wild cut down its roster Friday, as the team prepares for next week’s season opener at Colorado.
The Wild trimmed three players from their roster Friday by reassigning center Zac Dalpe to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and placing right wing Brett Bulmer and defenseman Tyson Strachan on waivers.
The moves followed news that Minnesota claimed forward Chris Porter off waivers from Philadelphia on Thursday. He was at Wild practice on Friday.

It leaves the Wild with 25 players on their active roster. They need to be down to 23 by Tuesday, two days before the Wild open the regular season on Thursday at Colorado.
The Star Tribune’s Michael Russo notes that there may not need to be any more cuts made by the Wild though. According to Russo, Justin Fontaine is expected to start the season on injured reserve.
Erik Haula and Jordan Schroeder are not practicing either, so Russo says if either were to join Fontaine on IR, Minnesota would be at 23.
