For a second consecutive day the Minnesota Wild have made a trade, this time sending forward Nino Niederreiter to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Carolina is sending left-shot center Victor Rask to the Wild.
Rask has just one goal and five assists this season, leading The Athletic’s Michael Russo to speculate that the move has more to do with the Wild ridding itself of Niederreiter’s contract, which still has three years and more than $15 million remaining on it.
Niederreiter, 26, is one year older than Rask and has outproduced him this season with nine goals and 14 assists in 46 games.
On Wednesday, the Wild traded prospect Justin Kloos to the Anaheim Ducks for former second-round pick, Pontus Aberg, who can you learn more about right here.
