Minnesota Wild 3
Buffalo Sabres 2
Former Sabre Jason Pominville scored the game winning shootout goal to secure the Wild’s fourth straight win.
1) Tense shootout finish
While Jason Pominville got to steal the win from his former teammates in Buffalo with a crisp shot just left of Sabres goalie Robin Lehner’s outstretched glove, Charlie Coyle and Devan Dubynk emerged as the other heroes of the shootout. Coyle got goal number one to fall, while Dubynk stopped 3 out of four and finished with 30 saves.

2) Power play to the rescue (again)
After Buffalo defenceman Josh Gorges got called for tripping Coyle around the net, the Wild’s power play squad took to the ice with purpose. Team Captain Mikko Koivu tied the game up during the critical 3rd period advantage on an assist from Matt Dumba. This marks the 12th consecutive game with a power play goal from the Wild.

3) David Jones gets first Wild goal
After making his debut on Thursday night, forward David Jones scored his first goal in a Wild uniform off an assist from Ryan Carter and Marco Scandella to put the Wild up 1-0 during the first period. Jones had previously the Avalanche and Flames and arrived in Minnesota via a trade that sent former Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom to Calgary.
