A three-goal first period combined with an incredible night between the pipes by Cam Talbot helped the Minnesota Wild survive a high-drama elimination game in their best-of-seven series against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Minnesota’s 4-2 victory extends the series to a Game 6 on Wednesday night in St. Paul.
In front of more than 12,000 fans in Las Vegas, the Knights took an early 1-0 lead on Marc Stone’s fourth goal of the series, but Kirill Kaprizov’s first career playoff goal tied the game 1-1 just 52 seconds later.

The Wild then piled on with goals by Zach Parise and Jordan Greenway to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

But Vegas turned on the jets and blitzed the Wild with 40 shot attempts to Minnesota’s three in the second period, including a 21-1 advantage in shots on goal.
But Vegas only netted one of the 21 on goal, and the Wild came back a more balanced attack in the third period, playing stifling defense and getting a handful of big saves from Talbot.
Nico Sturm’s empty-net goal with 39 seconds remaining sealed the victory.

Vegas leads the best-of-seven series 3-2. The start time for Wednesday’s Game 6 has not been announced.
