Out of nowhere, the Minnesota Wild announced this afternoon that Zach Parise will not play in tonight’s game against the Winnipeg Jets and is out indefinitely with a fractured sternum.
The team says Parise is week-to-week, with no specific timeline for his return, although Michael Russo is reporting that Parise will miss 6-8 weeks.
Parise is the Wild’s all-time leader with 14 goals in the playoffs and six power-play goals. He also ranks first in franchise history with 31 points, 110 shots and is tied for first with 17 assists. He has scored 35 goals and 74 points in 11 postseasons.

It’s awful news considering Parise has scored in all three games of the series and has been their best goal scorer for the better part of the last four weeks.
