The Wild had lost four straight going into their matchup with Philadelphia Monday, but bounced back behind two third period goals to defeat the Flyers 2-0 at Xcel Energy Center.
Josh Harding made his third consecutive start in net after giving up two goals in each game of Minnesota’s home-and-home over the weekend against Colorado, and posted a shutout against the second-to-worst Eastern Conference offense of Philadelphia.
After both teams failed to score in the first two periods, winger Jason Pominville got Minnesota on the board 3:52 into the third, and Charlie Coyle scored just 57 seconds later.
The Flyers pulled starting goalie and former Chicago net-tender Ray Emery with 3:16 left in the game, but the extra attacker didn’t yield any scoring for Philly, who drop below .500 to 12-13-2.
The Wild improve to 16-8-5, and now sit just one point behind the Aves for third in the Western Conference.
Minnesota is off until Thursday, when they host the conference-leading Blackhawks.
