A few notes ahead of Minnesota’s clash with Phoenix tomorrow.
Already dealing with three different foot injuries (Parise, Spurgeon Koivu), the Wild may be strapped with another lower-body injury, as defenseman Marco Scandella took a shot off the lower leg against Los Angeles Tuesday.
It is not known how serious the injury is or if Scandella will miss time, but all of the shot-blocking is really taking its toll on the club.
On another injury front, goalie Niklas Backstrom, who was filling in for Josh Harding who is out with an undisclosed illness, missed Tuesday with an abdominal injury.
According to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune, it looks as if third-string netkeeper Darcy Kuemper will make his second straight start Thursday, with Backstrom still working his way through the injury.
The news on the nature of the abdomen injury isn’t good for Backstrom, as he said he believes it to be related to a torn core muscle he played with for a month last year.
Once again, that’s according to Russo, because of course it is, he has all the info and is never wrong. But seriously.
