Welcome back, Jason Zucker.
The Minnesota Wild recalled the young speedster from its American Hockey League affiliate in Iowa on Wednesday.
Zucker will likely replace forward Torrey Mitchell on the ice. Mitchell suffered a lower-body injury in Minnesota’s 6-2 loss at Montreal on Tuesday. Pro Hockey Talk reports that Mitchell sustained an injury to his left leg.
The Wild didn’t practice this morning so there is no word on whether Zucker will play tonight against the Ottawa Senators. Michael Russo of the Star Tribune speculates he will play.
Zucker’s shining moment so far in his brief career came in an overtime playoff game against the Chicago Blackhawks last season. Zucker scored the game-winner with a beautiful goal.
