Des Moines, Iowa could be getting the Minnesota Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate.
The Star Tribune reports the Wild will seek approval at an AHL Board of Governors conference call Thursday to move the Houston Aeros to Des Moines next season.
Per the report, approval is expected, meaning the team will change its name to the Iowa Wild. They will play at Wells Fargo Arena.
According to the Pioneer Press, the current home of the Aeros, the Toyota Center in Houston, decided it could make more money hosting concerts and other events rather than minor league hockey.
