By the time the Minnesota Wild drop the puck to start the 2013-14 regular season in one month, Jason Pominville could have a new long-term contract with the Wild.
Pominville tells Michael Russo of the Star Tribune that contract talks are happening.
“They’ve talked a few times for sure and are going back and forth about what the plans are,” Pominville said. “We’ll just go day by day and see if both sides can make progress and go from there.”
Pominville noted that he loves playing in Minnesota and would like to remain with the Wild after his contract expires at the end of the season.
“I want to stay and be part of what they’re building,” he said.
The Wild traded two prospects and two draft picks to acquire Pominville in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres last April.
