The Wild announced today that Grand Rapids native Kurt Kleinendorst will coach its American Hockey League affilliate in Des Moines.
According to the Star Tribune, Kleinendorst, 52, was a finalist for the Houston Aeros job in 2010, but Wild GM Chuck Fletcher picked Mike Yeo instead.
Kleinendorst spent nine years as an assistant coach and scout for the New Jersey Devils. He won a Stanley Cup as Larry Robinson’s assistant in 2000.
