Illya Bryzgalov was a sensational trade acquisition for the Wild late last season, but the 34-year-old is only back in Minnesota because the in-house goalie situation is so bad. The Wild announced that he was invited for a training camp tryout and he’ll be with the team when they take the ice for the first time on Friday.
Bryzgalov went 7-1-3 in 12 regular season appearances for the Wild. He posted a 2.12 goals-against average.
Harding hurt kicking a wall
Word to the wise. Don’t kick a wall when you’re upset. According to the Star Tribune, Josh Harding broke his foot kicking a wall after an off-ice altercation with a teammate. He’s expected to miss two to three months.
“The bottom line is right now he’s not available to us, and that diminishes our depth at that position and it hurts our team,” general manager Chuck Fletcher told Michael Russo. “However it happened, it’s important to get the answers, but at the end of the day, it’s not going to change the situation.”
Russo expects Fletcher to meet with Harding sometime Thursday.
Kuemper contract talk update
Russo reports that the Wild and Kuemper’s camp remain fair apart. On Wednesday, head coach Mike Yeo expressed his frustration about the situation. Get those quotes right here.
Obviously this is fluid situation and things can change with one phone call, but as of now, nothing close with #mnwild G Darcy Kuemper
