Apple Valley junior goalie Taylor DeForrest set a state record by making 111 saves in a playoff game last week, and on Tuesday night the Minnesota Wild honored her with a pregame ceremony and the opportunity to do the “Let’s play hockey” call before the start of the game against the Dallas Stars.
Before making the ritualistic call, DeForrest was treated to personalized videos from Wild goalies Devan Dubnyk and Darcy Kuemper, congratulating her on the state record.

Her 111 saves shattered the previous record of 59 saves. Unfortunately for DeForrest, she broke the record in a losing effort, falling to East Ridge 3-2 in six overtimes.
The girls’ state tournament at Xcel Energy Center begins Feb. 18.
