The Minnesota Wild’s biggest offseason question – that will apparently remain without an answer for a while – is who will be named the head coach.
One thing is certain: John Torchetti is in the mix for the job.
“He’s definitely a very serious candidate for the head coach position,” said Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher on Wednesday, while commending Torchetti for leading the Wild to the playoffs as their interim head coach.
After being knocked out the playoffs in the opening round by the Dallas Stars, Torchetti said the job is one he wants.
“I just know that coming into this building, it’s a lot of fun working here,” Torchetti said, via the Star Tribune, when prodded by reporters just minutes after the Wild’s season ended last Sunday. “And there are some good players here, some good young players who are going to be great players as we move along.”
