Wild winger Dany Heatley will miss some playing time with an apparent left wrist injury, according to the Star Tribune. While there’s still no exact timetable on his return, GM Chuck Fletcher says Heatley will be out at least the next couple of weeks.
Heatley was hurt at the end of Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to San Jose, when he and Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic got into a fight in front of the net.
Vlasic slashed Healtley across the top of the back. When Heatley tried to retaliate, he missed. Vlasic then drove Heatley to the ice, and that appears to be when Heatley was injured.
Vlasic, who was fined $8,378 (half of his daily salary) for the hit, told reporters his actions were in retaliation from a previous shift.
“He just swung at me and I swung at him,” Vlasic said. “He could have easily hit me. I wasn’t intending to hurt him. I just wanted to slash him, because he took a swing at me and missed. He got me the shift before.”
