Chicago media is noting how the odds are in favor of the Chicago Blackhawks come Tuesday night’s Game 6 against the Wild at Xcel Energy Center, thanks to players Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
The Chicago Sun Times reported Monday that Blackhawks have not lost a playoff game in the Towes/Kane era when the team has been tied 2-2 in a Stanley Cup playoff series, adding that the team is 13-0 in Games 5 and 6 in such series.
Of course, the Wild hope to break that streak at the X, after falling to the Blackhawks 2-1 at United Center in Chicago Sunday night.
In the Wild’s favor going into Game 6 is the fact that they haven’t lost a game at home during this season’s entire playoff run, winning two against the Blackhawks in the Western Conference semifinals and four against the Colorado Avalanche to advance to the semis.
Likewise, the defending Stanley Cup champions are 6-0 at the United Center in the postseason.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Wild coach Mike Yeo didn’t want to draw comparisons to the Avalanche series, where the team came back from a 3-2 deficit. Instead, he wanted to focus on what should have happened with the Wild in Game 5.
“It sucks to lose a game like this. And obviously, when you lose, you’re frustrated, you’re mad,” Yeo said.
Moving forward, Yeo likes the Wild’s chances, the Tribune said.
“I think there’s been enough in this series where we should feel confident still,” Yeo noted. “That said, we also recognize that we’d better be ready.”
Game 6 is set for 8 p.m. Tuesday at Xcel. If the Wild force a Game 7, it will be Thursday night at United Center.
