A 4-3 win in Calgary was just what the Wild needed Monday night.
Jason Pominville scored two goals and Mikko Koivu and Pierre Marc-Bouchard also scored for the Wild.
Koivu scored in the first, Pominville’s first goal came in the second, and Bouchard and Pominville put the Wild up 4-1 with goals 76 seconds apart in the third.
Little Falls native and former St. Cloud State forward Ben Hanowski scored for the Flames — his first career goal in his first NHL game — to cut the Flames’ deficit to two. Calgary pulled its goalie and made it a one-goal game with 39 seconds to play, but Minnesota held on for the win.
The win snapped Minnesota’s three-game losing streak and helped them jump from seventh to sixth in the Western Conference standings.
With just six games to play, the Wild has 49 points — one point ahead of St. Louis and two points ahead of Detroit and Columbus.
