The Wild continued their winning ways with a 6-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center, the Associated Press reports.
Thomas Vanek scored two goals and fellow Gopher hockey alumni Jordan Schroeder and Erik Haula each had one in the high-scoring game to lead the Minnesota effort.
Minnesota nearly blew a three-goal lead during a sloppy second period. The Wild led 3-0 in the first and 4-1 in the second before Carolina took advantage of some poor puck handling to score two quick goals and close the gap to one, according to the AP.
Shortly afterward, Carolina had the advantage on a four-minute power play, but goalie Devan Dubnyk and the defense played tough to keep the Hurricanes from scoring. Dubnyk got his 10th win in 13 games with the Wild.
Haula added a goal in the third for some insurance. It was defenseman Nate Prosser who scored the winning goal.
