The Minnesota Wild got a much-needed win over the Detroit Red Wings Sunday night, but it took overtime to do it. The Wild scored midway through the extra period to beat the Wings 4-3 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The Wild played hard but had to come from behind. They scored three consecutive goals to tie up the game in regulation.
Matt Moulson scored the winning shot in overtime 2:15 into the extra session. He deflected Jonas Brodin’s point shot into the net, the Star Tribune reports.
Jason Pominville’s power-play goal in the second period pulled the Wild within one, then Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise scored third-period goals 1 minute, 45 seconds apart, as the Wild won for only the third time in the past 10 games (3-3-4), according to the Star Tribune.
Minnesota lost to Detroit Saturday night at home.
