The Minnesota Wild got a bit of a surprise on Friday when goalie Niklas Backstrom took part in the team’s afternoon practice in Winnipeg, the Star Tribune reports.
“I would say I’m pleased and also happy to see the way he looked out there,” Wild coach Mike Yeo said of Backstrom. “He looked quick, he looked slick, but it’s one day, obviously, so we’ll keep an eye going forward.”
Backstrom said he felt good but he’ll have to wait and see how feels in the coming days.
He suffered a concussion when Toronto’s Nazem Kadri leveled him at the Xcel Energy Center
Kadri dropped a smart-aleck remark when he returned from a two-game suspension by saying, “I guess I’m on probation right now,” according to the National Post.
