Three days off after losing five of their last six games was exactly what the doctor ordered as the Minnesota Wild scored as many points Tuesday night against Montreal as the Vikings did on Monday night in Seattle.
Matt Dumba scored twice while Nino Niederreiter, Charlie Coyle, Eric Staal, Jared Spurgeon and Zach Parise also scored in the Wild’s 7-1 win over the Canadiens at Xcel Energy Center.
Minnesota went 4-for-4 on the power play and goalie Devan Dubnyk got back on track with a 29-save effort, including some huge saves before the Wild opened the floodgates and began scoring.
“Those saves were game-changers,” Mikael Granlund said, via Wild.com. “It’s either 1-1 or we score on the power play [to make it 2-0]. We defended a little bit better tonight, but he was great. That was great to see from him.”
Dunbyk surrendered three first-period goals and was pulled in Minnesota’s 7-2 loss to the Oilers last Friday, so he appears to back on track with his confidence restored.
The Wild host Florida on Thursday.
