Current Wild assistant coach and former captain of the New Jersey Devils Scott Stevens was honored by the NHL as one of league’s top 100 players of all time.
The list was unveiled Friday in Los Angeles as part of All-Star Weekend.
Stevens played in 1,635 games in his NHL career, which is the second most by a defenseman in NHL history. He tallied 908 points, 2,785 penalty minutes and was plus-393 in his Hall of Fame career.
The hard-nosed defenseman helped the Devils to three Stanley Cup Championships in his tenure while making 13 All-Star appearances.
Stevens was known for his big hits, like this one that knocked Eric Lindros out of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Lindros missed the entire next season because of that hit.
This is Stevens’ first season behind the Wild’s bench. Minnesota by the way has one of the league’s best defenses this season.
Other players with ties to the State of Hockey that were on the list: Jacques Lemaire and Mike Modano.
