The Wild have taken two more centers in the 2023 NHL Draft, after drafting Rosemount’s Charlie Stramel Wednesday night.
With the 53rd overall pick Minnesota selected Rasmus Kumpulainen. The 22-year-old center from Lahti, Finland comes in at 6-foot-3 with Elite Hockey Prospects saying “Kumpulainen is partly made in the mould of a typical big-bodied two-way centre, but there’s also more skill than might initially meet the eye.”
Rounding out the second round the Wild selected Riley Heidt, a 5-foot-11 center from Saskatoon, SK, CAN. The 18-year-old is described by Elite Hockey Prospects as “Nasty physically, despite his 5-foot-11 frame, Heidt has the handling, shooting, and vision to inflict major damage on opponents.”
The Wild have one pick in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh rounds of the NHL Draft.
