Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins was named the NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month for November.
Wiggins becomes the sixth Timberwolves player to win the Rookie of the Month honor. Wiggins joins Gorgui Dieng (March 2014), Ricky Rubio (January 2012), Kevin Love (March 2009), Randy Foye (December 2006) and Stephon Marbury (January 1997).
According to the Pioneer Press, Wiggins and Foye are the only two Wolves rookies to win the award during their first month in the league.
Wiggins averaged 11.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.13 steals in 15 games during November. He also led all rookies in three-point field goal percentage at 44 percent. Among Western Conference rookies, Wiggins was first in scoring, steals and minutes played, second in blocks and third in rebounding.

Wiggins scored a season-high 29 points Nov. 22 against Sacramento. That’s the highest scoring total for a rookie this season and equals the top point total for a Wolves rookie since Marbury scored 33 against Utah on Dec. 23, 1996.
But Wolves coach Flip Saunders still has higher expectations for his highly-touted rookie.

Wiggins was the top pick in last summer’s NBA Draft. The Wolves acquired him in the deal that sent Love to Cleveland. Milwaukee’s Jabari Parker, the second pick, was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month.
