Before we get to the point of this story, there’s good news for the Timberwolves in the form of Kevin Martin returning to the court Wednesday night against the Boston Celtics. The Star Tribune has the report. Martin hasn’t played since fracturing his shooting wrist on Nov. 19.
There’s pretty much no chance the Timberwolves will have a representative on the Western Conference All-Star team next month, but Wolves fans will have a few things to look forward to during the festivities leading up to the Feb. 15 All-Star Game.
Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine, Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng will all play in the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday, Feb. 13. The NBA announced full rosters for the challenge on Wednesday.

This year’s format will be different from the rookies playing the sophomores. Instead, the game will feature ten first- and second-year players from the United States against ten first- and second-year players from around the world.
LaVine and Muhammad will play for the U.S. Team while Wiggins (Canada) and Dieng (Senegal) will suit up for the World Team.
Wiggins will be the main draw for the game. He leads all rookies in scoring at 15.2 points per game and he’s averaging 19.8 points over his last 18 games, according to the Timberwolves.
LaVine will also participate in the Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday, Feb. 14.
