The addition of cornerback Tramaine Brock could be a massive upgrade to an already stout Vikings’ secondary.
According to multiple reports, the Vikings traded a seventh-round draft pick to the Seahawks for Brock, who was one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL last season.
Pro Football Focus, Brock was one of only three cornerbacks in the NFL last season to play 750+ snaps and allow a catch rate of 50 percent or lower. One of the other two is his new teammate, Xavier Rhodes.

The move comes just two days after Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll spoke highly of Brock.
“He’s done well,” Carroll said Wednesday, via the Seattle Times, “he’s experienced that he knows how to do stuff and he has been able to incorporate things that he’s done in the past, but it has been similar to ours. He’s a good football player.”
Brock’s offseason also included legal trouble after he was arrested in April and charged with domestic abuse. The 49ers cut Brock two days after the arrest, but the charges were eventually dropped. More on the story from the 49ers’ SB Nation page.
“The Santa Clara District Attorney’s office have dissmied felony domestic violence charges against free agent cornerback Tramaine Brock, per Mike Garafolo. The DA dropped the charges due to lack of evidence, and Matt Barrows is reporting it was because the woman declined to cooperate with the DA’s office.”
With the Vikings, Brock could be used on the outside like Trae Waynes, or on the inside as a nickel corner like Terence Newman or Mackenzie Alexander.
Brock played for the Gophers in 2008 after transferring from a community college in Mississippi.

The 29-year-old has 11 career interceptions and has had double-digit passes defensed in three of his last four seasons.
