The Minnesota Twins will try to make it two straight wins in Detroit tonight, but they have to get past Anibal Sanchez (11-7, 2.50 ERA) first.
He’s been ultra-tough since the All-Star break, posting a 4-1 record, with a miniscule 1.54 ERA.
But which Sanchez will show up?
In June, he didn’t make it out of the fourth inning against the Twins in a 6-3 Tigers loss.
But in May, he took a no-hitter into the 9th-inning at Comerica Park before Joe Mauer broke it up.
Despite what happens tonight, the Detroit Free Press says Sanchez remains “baseball’s best kept secret.”
Their take: “This season, Sanchez is in the top 10 in 14 pitching categories across baseball. He leads in home runs per nine innings pitched (0.4) and his strikeout rate per nine innings (9.7) is second in the AL behind Yu Darvish.
The Twins counter with Kevin Correia (8-9, 4.61), who held the Tigers to just two runs at Target Field way back on April 3, a 3-2 Twins win.
