Another reminder that superstar athletes and their agents aren’t as closed off as we sometimes assume they are.
Take Jimmy Butler for example. He seems like a genuinely awesome guy, and his latest example of being truly friendly comes from Sheldon Jack Bowen, a Californian who told this incredible story on his Facebook page.
Bowen did what everyone else did when Butler gave out his personal cell phone number during his introductory press conference in Minnesota: he sent Butler a text, asking him to join his fantasy basketball league.

Butler didn’t respond and wound up getting a new number.
But Bowen included the old number in his group texts to the fantasy league, and at the end of the season a member asked if Butler had paid up yet.
Naturally, Bowen sent Butler a tweet, jokingly notifying him that his $20 league fee was due.

What Bowen received is the autographed pair of game-worn Jordans, a jersey and a $20 bill to cover his league fee.
The shoes are dated 10-27-17, the night Butler scored 25 points to help the Wolves beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, 119-116 at Target Center.
Another example of Butler’s down-to-earth nature came last October when he randomly showed to up to hang out with a youth football team in Orono.
