Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen have been a terror to cover for opposing defenders.
Now the Vikings are just a week away from getting Michael Floyd back on the field.
Floyd’s four-game suspension will conclude after the Vikings’ tilt with the Detroit Lions on Sunday. When Floyd comes back, its likely he’ll be a contributor, but that means a fellow wide receiver will be deemed inactive and/or moved to the practice squad.
Who gets the boot?
The Vikings currently have six wide receivers on their active roster and that does not include Floyd.

- Jarius Wright
- Laquon Treadwell
- Rodney Adams
- Stacy Coley
Rookie wideout Rodney Adams has been inactive for all three games this season. Stacy Coley, who is also a rookie, was inactive for the first time last week against Tampa Bay.
And second-year wide receiver Laquon Treadwell might be the odd man out. Treadwell is looking to put a miserable 2016 season behind him, where he caught just one pass.
So far, he has five receptions on the season for 42 yards.
Meanwhile, veteran Jarius Wright might be the one who’s deemed inactive. He caught a touchdown last week, but has just three other receptions this season.
Wright is a veteran who showed promise in 2014 and 2015, but his production fell off last year and it doesn’t look like he’ll be the receiver he could have been.
What to expect from Floyd?
Assuming Floyd is the playmaker he was in Arizona, the Vikings aerial attack could be one of the league’s best. Throughout his career, Floyd has averaged 15 yards per reception.
That’s the same figure that Thielen averages; in fact, Thielen is pacing the NFL with six catches of 20 yards or more.
Oh, and then there’s Diggs, who averages 17 yards per catch, has five catches of 20 yards or more and has found the endzone four times.
If Floyd can still stretch the field, you’re talking about a trio of wide receivers that will give the Vikings an edge they haven’t had since the Randy Moss, Chris Carter and Jake Reed days from the late 90s.
