When it comes to regular-season games, this was a loss for the ages. The Wild, up 4-1 in the third period Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators, ended up losing, 5-4. Naturally, the sportswriters had a field day with this one. Here’s a sample of what they had to say:
1) Jim Souhan from the Star Tribune had a problem with the Wild saying they were tired. His response: Really? Later, Souhan wrote a column focusing on Marek Zidlicky, and how his grumbling does not not bode wellgoing forward.
2) Tom Powers of the Pioneer Press says the Wild didn’t go into a shell in that fateful third period. It was more like a coma.
3) Nashville beat-writer Josh Cooper of the Tennessean newspaper talked to Mike Fisher after game. Fisher scored the last two goals to seal the deal. Cooper said Fisher was the picture of “stone cold confidence.”
4) The Wild locker room? Not so much. Fox Sports North’s Mike Hall quoted coach Mike Yeo, who said the loss was an “incredibly huge negative.” Works for us.
Happy Wild memories? They’re out there. But in the distant past….
