One thing you can bank on for the new Vikings stadium is that its name won’t have anything to do with Wells Fargo.
A spokesman for the financial giant said in an e-mail Friday that “Wells Fargo has no interest” in naming rights for the new facility, the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal reports.
The declaration comes after reports surfaced over Wells Fargo being in talks with Ryan Cos. over potential development of the land adjacent to the new Vikings stadium site, the Business Journal reports.
Ryan Cos. is reportedly in talks with the Star Tribune to purchase the land, which is owned by the publication.
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Commission announced a week ago that groundbreaking for the new stadium is set for October 2013.
The stadium, which will be designed by Dallas-based HKS, Inc. , is targeting an opening in time for the 2016 NFL season.
