The game tonight against Cleveland is not just a middle-of-the-week, regular season home contest for the Minnesota Twins.
The Twins have delighted fans with the arrival of top prospect Jose Berrios. Berrios gets the start Wednesday (7:10 p.m. start at Target Field), in what will be the 21-year-old’s major league debut.
For many fans, it’s about time Berrios gets his shot – the Twins have taken their time bringing Berrios along. The righthander didn’t dominate in spring training and was sent to triple-A Rochester to begin the season.
Since then, Berrios has dominated the minor leagues. His ERA is 1.06 and he’s allowed only 8 hits in 17 innings pitched.
The call-up has stirred baseball watchers. ESPN’s David Schoenfeld writes that Berrios could develop into the Twins’ best starter since Johan Santana.
Berrios shared his excitement on Facebook:

Berrios has been receiving well wishes and plenty of coverage on social media from fans and the Twins too since the call up.
Sure looks like the skies are going to stay clear and the only thing it'll rain tonight for #MNTwins and Berrios is strikeouts
