The Vikings still have an offensive workhorse in running back Adrian Peterson, but clouds of doubt are swirling over quarterback Christian Ponder. After a loss to the lackluster Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, the Vikings have slipped a bit in the power rankings.
“This thing could get away from Minnesota if Ponder doesn’t adjust,” says Bleacher Report, which dropped Minnesota four spots to No. 12 in its Power Rankings.
The Vikings were never a real threat to win the division, but maybe it could vie for a wildcard spot, says SB Nation, which dropped the Vikings two spots to No. 11 and offers these notes of skepticism: “Is the Minnesota Miracle just a mirage? The secondary took a hit with the loss of Chris Cook. Christian Ponder came back to earth.”
ESPN dropped Minnesota two notches on its Power Rankings. ESPN’s Keven Seifert notes: “I was frankly surprised the Vikings didn’t drop more after a weak home loss to the previously 2-4 Buccaneers.”
