From frying pan to fire. That’s how the Vikings must feel this week as they lick their Soldier Field wounds and try to figure out a way to beat Green Bay at Lambeau Sunday. At 6-5, Minnesota is still in the NFC Wild Card picture, but their hopes seem to be fading fast.
How does the rest of the free world see the Vikings situation? For a glimpse, here’s how the various list-makers rank the Vikings heading into Week 13:
FoxSports has the Vikings at No. 17 this week, down one spot from Week 12. Harkening back to the Bears loss, author Brian Billick says if you need two yards in a crucial situation, “you give it Adrian Peterson.”
CBS Sportshas Minnesota at No. 17 as well, down two places from last week. The eye’s bottom line: Christian Ponder has to do more.”
SB Nation has the Purple down two notches at No. 16, calling Solider Field a “house of horrors.”
The Bleacher Report has Minnesota at No. 15 — also down two spots from Week 12. Their take: Minnesota needs a decent downfield threat, with “no disrespect to Jerome Simpson.”
