A staple of sports journalism is ranking the NFL teams, 1-32, week-by-week, from Week 1 until February’s Super Bowl. (Yes, we know it’s more of a year-round thing, but just play along.)
Anyway, it’s Week 1, with the season kicking off Wednesday night between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. The Vikings open Sunday against Jacksonville at Mall of America Field.
With the Vikings going 3-13 last year, do the pundits see any room for improvement this year? The early indication, according to the power rankings, are … not really.
FoxSports, for example, calls Adrian Peterson the “only threat” on Minnesota’s offense.
ESPN says this team still looks like a squad in “rebuilding mode.”
SBNation says once Peterson shows he’s healthy, the Vikings will rise in the rankings.
The National Football Post (via Yahoo), points to “holes” in the wide receiver corps, as well as the whole AP not-at-full-speed thing.
If you’re wondering why we haven’t given you the numbers associated with these keen observations, that’s why we’re providing the links as well. It’s all about time on site, don’t you know…
