It was a big day on Sunday for Twins catcher and fan favorite Willians Astudillo.
Not only was he activated from the injured list before the Twins took the field against the Tigers, having missed the past two weeks, but he also caught a ceremonial first pitch from his mom, Ana Mercedes Astudillo, for Mother’s Day.

The Twins asked Astudillo after Saturday’s game if she had interest in throwing out the first pitch and she agreed.
“We already practiced in the parking lot in my apartment,” said Astudillo to MLB.com before the game.
It was the first time since April 27 that Astudillo suited up for the Twins. In 16 games this season, the utility man is slashing .327/.340/.531 with two home runs and seven RBI.
