It takes incredible power to launch a home run into the CATCH seats perched above the batter’s eye in center at Target Field.
While CATCH has only been around for a few years, only three players prior to Sunday’s Twins-Athletics game had homered into the section: Byung Ho Park, Miguel Sano and Jake Cave.
Welcome to the club, Tyler Austin.
Statcast measured the blast at 430 feet while the Twins called it a 451-foot blast.
Austin added a 354-foot homer later in the game, which the Twins lost 6-2.
In 12 games with the Twins since being traded from New York, Austin has six homers and nine RBI.
