As lights out as Addison Reed can be in the back end of the Twins’ bullpen, he’s also very capable of getting rocked, and he got rocked big time when Trayce Thompson ripped a solo home run off Reed to give the White Sox a 6-5, walk-off win Thursday night.
Thompson is the younger brother of Golden State Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson, and the son of ex-NBA and former Golden Gopher Mychal Thompson.
It’s the third time the Twins have lost on a walk-off home run this season and fifth time they’ve been walked-off overall, and this one is extra painful because Chicago had just two wins at home all season prior to Thursday’s game.
Reed been a rollercoaster out of the bullpen this season. He allowed just one run in his first eight appearances as the Twins’ setup man, but he’s been scored on in five of his last seven games, sending his ERA from 0.90 on April 20 to 3.24 entering play Friday.
Minnesota has gone 3-13 after starting the season 7-4.
