The microphones picked up an entertaining back-and-forth between Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch and one of the referees in Minnesota’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night.
After Philadelphia ended the first half on a 15-2 run to take a 58-45 lead into the locker room, Finch confronted an official and pleaded for an answer of how to get them to blow their whistles against the Sixers.
“What do we gotta do to get a call at the basket down here? What do we gotta do? Just tell me so I can tell them at halftime,” Finch said. You be honest with me, every time we’ve gone there’s never been a foul on (Joel) Embiid? Their starting unit has one foul, between the whole starting unit…they’ve played the most minutes.”

It seemed to pay off because Anthony Edwards earned an and-1 opportunity on his first drive to the basket in the third quarter, though Embiid and the 76ers continued their surge and pushed the lead to 20 points late in the third quarter, which is when this story was published.
