Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise got the scoring going for Team USA on Friday night against Team Canada in a preliminary game at the World Cup of Hockey.
With the puck at the top of the point — Ryan Suter fired a slapshot that Parise deflected into the back of the net. Suter provided the lone assist on the Parise goal, making it an all-Minnesota Wild goal.
The World Cup of hockey runs through the end of September.
There are 8 teams in the World Cup of hockey. Team USA is in Group A with Canada, the Czech Republic and Team Europe. The top two finishers from each group will advance to the semifinals later this month.
