During the Wild-Blackhawks game at Xcel Energy Center Wednesday, there was a controversial goal scored by Zach Parise.
Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville challenged that Minnesota was offsides when entering the zone Parise scored the goal.
When a play’s under review, the NHL replay center in Toronto makes the final call. For whatever reason, the referee was using an iPhone instead of the landline provided at the arena.
The review caused quite the firestorm on Twitter.
If it takes 15 minutes to figure out if the dude was offside, then you should either be fired or stick with the call on the ice

Siri, is this a offside? pic.twitter.com/87z0m8nqoy

My only issue with offside video reviews is they should be longer. Like an hour. 387 different angles reviewed. Arena doors locked.

After review, the goal was awarded to Minnesota due to “inconclusive evidence.” Still, why was this official using an iPhone and why the heck did the review take so long?
Hopefully we’ll find out soon enough. The Wild wound up falling to the Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime.
