Love him or hate him, new Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck talks a big game. He put his goals on display Sunday night when he fired up 11,000 people during halftime of the men’s basketball game at Williams Arena.
His prediction: A Big Ten championship.
“I want everybody, very soon, to picture something we haven’t done as a football program since 1967,” Fleck said. “And, when we do it, I want you to make as much noise as you possibly can and envision that day. I want to hear how loud the Gophers will be when that actually happens.”
The crowd went nuts, just like they did when they chanted Fleck’s “Row the Boat” slogan when he walked onto the court.

“I wanna make sure it’s very clear. We did not come here to be average. We did not come here to be good. We did not come here to be excellent. We came here to be elite,” Fleck said.
“Our culture is very different, it’s very unique, it’s very uncommon. Please give us a chance to show you why it is elite.”
