The Minnesota Twins continue to pile up victories in the early part of the season after come-from-behind effort secured their first walk-off win of the year against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday night.
Twins starter Lewis Thorpe got off to a rough start, allowing a solo home run to Cole Tucker on the first pitch of the game. The Pirates added another run in the second inning on a Jacob Stallings RBI single and headed into the middle innings with a 2-0 lead.
While Pittsburgh starter Derek Holland silenced the Twins’ bats, the Pirates lead swelled to 4-0 before the Twins mounted a rally in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Nelson Cruz got to Holland with an RBI single and Max Kepler drew the Twins closer with a two-RBI double to deep center field to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Twins tied the game on a wild pitch from Miguel DePozo, but a liner off the bat of Ehire Adrianza landed into the glove of a diving Bryan Reynolds to keep the game tied at 4-4.
The score would remain until the bottom of the ninth when the Twins mounted a rally off of former prospect Nick Burdi, which was capped off by a walk-off single from Cruz.

The Twins improved to 8-2 on the season with the win and will send Jose Berrios (0-1, 7.00 ERA) to the mound for the second game of the series against Joe Musgrove (0-2, 4.76 ERA) on Tuesday night.
