Kicking is always an adventure (especially if you’re a Minnesota Vikings fan) but Alexandria High School kicker Daniel Jackson made it look easy with a 52-yard field goal in a Class 5A quarterfinal game against Rogers on Saturday afternoon.
Jackson’s kick came in a heavy cross wind during the second quarter of Saturday’s game. With the game scoreless, Jackson’s kick cleared the uprights with several yards to spare and gave the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead. Here’s video of the booming prep kicker’s field goal.
Alexandria pulled away from Rodgers in the 2H to win 38-14 and advance to the Minnesota state semi's next week at U.S. Bank Stadium, but the first points of the day were this:

Based on information on the Minnesota State High School League’s website, the 52-yarder is a new record in the state tournament. The previous record was 43 yards by Brian Smiddle of Blaine High School 1996.
The Royals regained the lead on a touchdown later in the second quarter but Alexandria pulled away in the second half, using three touchdown passes by Chase Thompson and a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown by Evan Kludt in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
The Cardinals improved to 11-0 and will face St. Thomas Academy in the Class 5A semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium 2 p.m. next Friday.
