
Kirill Kaprizov scored 17 seconds into overtime as the Minnesota Wild earned a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks to jump into second place in the West Division.
The Ducks got on the board first on a breakaway goal by Max Comtois but Minnesota evened the score on a beautiful display of passing that led to Victor Rask’s ninth goal of the season.

The Wild took the lead later in the first period when Nico Sturm scored his 10th goal of the season from Nick Bonino and Nick Bjugstad.

The second period landed in the favor of the Ducks, who tied the game on Adam Henrique’s 12th goal of the season but the Wild took the lead back in the third with Joel Eriksson Ek’s 19th goal of the year in the third.

The Wild’s sluggish effort bit them later in the third when Derek Grant tied the game but Kaprizov played the hero scoring his 27th goal of the year and giving the Wild the overtime victory.

The Wild (34-14-3) now have 73 points to leap frog the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Division standings but the Avs will have a chance to regain second place when they square off against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night.
