Miss the start of Monday Night Football? Then you missed a distinctive hype video from Jesse Ventura.
The former Minnesota governor was drafted in for the build-up to the Philadelphia Eagles v Minnesota Vikings, showing him leaving a voicemail for new Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.
“This is desperation calling,” Ventura starts. “With just one question: Do you understand how we’ve suffered? Four Super Bowl losses, decades of disappointment, 1977, 87, 1998 … and for the love of Pete, 2009.”
“Coach, last night Bud Grant came to me in a dream. He whispered: ‘We have the offense this year’.”
Ventura warns that the Vikings are “entering a world of hurt” in Philly, against a team “with a title they took from us” (fairly convincingly, 38-7…).
“Fly, Eagles, Fly? Over my dead body,” Ventura continues. “Philly don’t get our pain, or our suffering. Show us you get it coach.”
He even gets a callback to “Total Recall,” ending: “Just remember, we ain’t got time to bleed, on Monday Night Football.”
